No Anxiety Allowed…applied?

So what does “no anxiety allowed” look like? Does it look like never being thoughtful, never planning, never considering safety signs? If it does, surely there will be a lot of people who will not even consider it possible, much less attainable for the responsible adult. What if it’s not quite that extreme? Though we’ll end up trying the extremes along the way, what if it’s a personal sweet spot somewhere between being useless because of worry, and being careless in an effort to avoid worry?

The no anxiety life is the life of being free of the worries which cannot achieve actual results. It is the life where concern is allowed, but not permitted to grow into oppressive weight.

NO Anxiety Allowed

The other day I had an inspired moment, and these words, “no anxiety allowed,” formed the last part of a brief passage I had been writing regarding some lifestyle growth.

Anxiety is, by and large, an important and loud voice in western society’s way of life. Games of the “what-ifs” make up decision-making processes in personal lives, families, schools, business and politics. Thoughts on national success in the Solomon Islands

This piece was originally written in Honiara, Solomon Islands, in September 2014.

In September 2014, walking down the road in Honiara, one can’t help noticing this is a bustling little town. Trucks, cars and buses rush past. A bus conductor declares “one more space, Kola, Kola!” A taxi nearly catches ones toe as he pulls onto the curb. Horns toot, asserting their presence. The sounds are immersive. Continue reading
