No Anxiety Allowed – The Problem

This article is the fourth in the “No Anxiety Allowed” series. I recommend reading the others, start here first.

I’ve written about why we should learn to live free of anxiety, and how that can be done. I’ve written about how I’ve tested it out myself and found that it’s not only possible, but practicable. I’ve talked about how living as a “Christian” obliges us to learn how to do this, and gives us the guarantee that as we do, we will find peace.

But, anyone who has walked this earth for more than a decade will tell me that all the theory in the world doesn’t match up to the reality: it is not that easy!

Inertia

In March 2015, I was in Port Vila while it was smashed by a massive category 5 cyclone named Pam. Winds reached over 300km/h, and homes were literally ripped apart.
(By some kind of miracle, the house I was in was totally undamaged).
In the days following, I was privileged to be a very small part of bringing relief to some of the people impacted by this catastrophic weather event. Outside of the city, where buildings were less sturdy, the damage was astonishing. Entire villages were flattened, sand covered coastal roads, gardens were totally destroyed and livelihoods lost.
